Decennial Annual Convention, 2006:

AIDCOC Convention - 2006 with the theme "Towards empowerment of consumer - Regulators Initiative was organized on 29th and 30th April 2006 at Vishakhapatnam- a place where AIDCOC was formed in December 1995. The Convention was hosted by the Drugs Inspectors' Association, Andhra Pradesh and was also organized to celebrate completion of ten momentous years of AIDCOC. The theme selected was in line with the resolution passed by AIDCOC to work and take direct action for consumer education on drugs safety and as follow up action of the steps taken by the AIDCOC in this regard.

The Convention was inaugurated by Shri. V. Dinesh Reddy, IPS, Director General of Drugs and Copy Right, Andhra Pradesh and Shri. R. Ranga Rao, Director Drugs Control Administration and Chairman LOC graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. The presentation made by consumer activist, social scientists, President, AIOCD was the unique feature of the Convention. The panel discussion on the theme was held in the afternoon in which Honorary Secretary of AIOCD, representative of Consumer Organization and regulatory officers participated. The Convention is bound to give further momentum to the AIDCOC's efforts on the consumer education. AIDCOC's open session was organized on 30th April 2006 in which many critical issues were discussed and decisions were taken. It was also resolved to take appropriate steps to rectify the anomolies in the advertisement issued by the Government of India for selecting officer for appointment to the post of Drugs Control General India.

Eighth Annual Convention, 2004 - Delhi:

The 8th Annual Convention of AIDCOC was held at Delhi on 10th October 2004. The Convention was hosted by the Delhi Drugs Control Gazetted Officers' Association. The Theme "Role of Regulatory Officers in Health Care" in line with the priority agenda of AIDCOC of 'Offering better services to the consumer' and "Achieving professional excellence through self initiative" was selected for the Convention. The Convention was inaugurated by Dr. Yoganand Shastri, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Government of NCT, Delhi as the Chief Guest. Shri. Mangatram Singal, Minister for Industries, Government of NCT, Delhi was the Guest of Honour. Shri. Ashwin Kumar, Drugs Controller General of India, Shri. S.P. Agarwal, Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Government of NCT, Delhi and Shri. Anand Prakash, Special Secretary, Health and Drugs Controller, Delhi graced the occasion as special guests.

The Drugs Control Officers from all parts of the country participated in the Convention in large number. "Best Drugs Inspector's Award" was presented to ten officers from different states. The inaugural function was followed by scientific sessions in which presentations specific to the theme were made by the experts in the field. The unique feature of the program was the Panel discussion in which representatives from academics, industry and the Consumer Association participated panelist. The interactive session enabled AIDCOC to project factual image of the Drugs Control officers and to sensitize the officers on the need to play a bigger role in healthcare delivery system.

Sixth Annual Convention, 2002 - Banaglore:

AIDCOC 2002 was organized at Bangalore on 17/11/2002. The Convention was inaugurated by Shri. Kagodu Thimmappa, Hon. Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Information, Government of Karnataka. The event was hosted by the Karnataka Drugs Control Department Enforcement Officers' Association. The excellence in Drugs Control Organization was recognized by presenting "Best Drugs Inspector's Award" to ten Drugs Inspectors from different states. The retired Drugs Controllers from Karnataka Drugs Control Department and Shri. C.J. Rao, Retired Joint Commissioner from Maharashtra were felicitated during the inaugural function. The afternoon session was devolved to the presentation on 'Role of Regulatory Officers in Quality Assurance'.

Fifth Annual Convention, 2001 - Mumbai:

Consequent to the decision taken to hold an independent Annual Convention, the first independent Convention of AIDCOC was held at Mumbai in November, 2001. As this was the first independent Convention of AIDCOC, it was decided to organize the Convention as the International Conference on a large scale. The event which was jointly organized with Industry Pharmacy Division proved to be the first event of its kind. AIDCOC 2001 Convention and International Conference was inaugurated by Shri. Anil Deshmukh, Hon. Minister for the State Excise and Drugs, Government of Maharashtra on 01/11/2001 at Regent Lands End, Band Stand, Bandra (W). The unique feature of the inaugural function and the two days conference was the presence of leading personalities from the pharmaceutical field, excellent response, overwhelming attendance, enthusiasm and participation amongst delegates throughout the program, quality of information, and development of synergy between the regulatory officers and the professionals from the pharmaceutical industry. The leading personalities like Dr. Anil Kakodkar, Chairman, Atomic Energy Commission, Shri. Pankaj Patel, Managing Director, Zydus Cadila Healthcare Limited, Shri. Habib Khorakiwala, Chairman and Managing Director, Wockhard Limited, Shri. Ashwinikumar, Drugs Control General India, and Shri. B.B. Sharma, IAS, Commissioner, FDA, (Maharashtra) addressed the audience during the inaugural function. The excellence in regulatory agencies was recognized by presenting Best Drugs Inspectors' Award to the Drugs Inspectors' from different states and CDSCO.

The Central Council Meeting was held on the second day after conclusion of conference and the new Executive Committee for 2001 - 2003 was elected. The entire proceedings during two days conference were webcasted. The CD of the conference was also provided to all delegates. The conference proved the organizational ability of the regulatory officers to meticulously organize such a large scale event and set the benchmark for future conventions of AIDCOC.

Fourth Annual Convention, 2000 - Hyderabad:

The 4th Annual Convention was organized at Andhra Pradesh Chamber of Commerce, Hyderabad. The Convention which was hosted by the Drugs Inspectors' Association, Andhra Pradesh was inaugurated by Shri. B.S.A. Swami, Hon. Judge, Andhra Pradesh, High Court. Shri. Amitav Dos, expert on HRD from Dr. Reddy's laboratory made an excellent presentation on transactional analysis. The Central Council Meeting of AIDCOC was held in the afternoon session and decision was taken to hold an independent convention of AIDCOC from 2001. The decision was taken on the basis of unanimous view expressed by members that are in the backdrop of the mega event and glittering show of Indian Pharmaceutical Congress, perhaps, the Confederations Convention does not get required recognition and visibility. The decision to institute a separate award for the "Best Drugs Inspector" from each state, CDSCO and the Union Territory was taken during Central Council Meeting. It was decided that the award should be presented during the inaugural function of the AIDCOC Convention.

Third Annual Convention, 1999 -Indore:

3rd Annual Convention of AIDCOC was held at Indore and was hosted by the Madhya Pradesh Drugs Inspector's Association. The Convention was inaugurated by Shri. Ashwini Kumar, Drugs Controller General India as the Chief Guest. In the afternoon session, the Central Council Meeting was held and the new Executive Committee for the year 1999-2001 was elected Shri. Ravi Uday Bhaskar was elected as the 3rd President and he took over the charge from Shri. Unikrishna Panickar.

Second Annual Convention, 1998 - Mumbai:

The second annual convention was held at Mumbai with a theme "Interactivity - A Key to success". The Convention was inaugurated by Dr. Kokate, the then President, IPCA and Dr. S.P. Adeshara, Commisioner, FDCA, Gujarat graced the occasion as the guest of honour. Dr. K.5. Suryanarayan, Corporate Training Manager, Glaxo (India) Ltd. made an excellent presentation on the theme selected for the convention.

First National Convention, 1997 - Thiruananthapuram:

The Confederation commenced organizing its annual national convention along with Indian Pharmaceutical Congress with a view to provide a platform for exchange of views. The first convention was held at Thiruananthapuram in December 1997 which marked a beginning of the prestigious annual event. His Highness Maharaja ofTravancore inaugurated the convention. Shri. N. Chandrashekharan Nair, first Drugs Controller of Kerala, Drugs Control Department was felicitated by His Highness, Maharaja of Travancore during inaugural function. AIDCOC took a conscious decision that the programs for updating the knowledge of the officers should be an integral part of the annual convention in addition to the Central Council Meeting and open session of AIDCOC. During the first convention, the experts from the field made representation in critical area in blood banking and on principle of time management. During afternoon, an open session of AIDCOC was organized and was followed by the Central Council Meeting in which the full fledge Executive Committee of AIDCOC was elected. Shri. Unikrishnan Panickar, Drugs Inspector, Kerala was elected as the second President of AIDCOC.
